Structure
So in my last post I informed you that I was going to attempt to explain and demonstrate the importance of structure in this post. So I chose to not only review but to explain this drawing. In this piece the structure is especially prominent. Think of it this way. Look at the drawing and dissect it, the same way you would dissect a paragraph. Look at the black lines they create the structure the main point. The structure can be explained as the opening statement of a paragraph. It creates the drawing gives the drawing shape and direction. Look at the bold shading as if it's the body of a paragraph. It gives the piece interest and interests the viewer. The fill ins and little outside shapes can be compared to the closing sentence. It gives the piece the finishing touches. It concludes the work at gives it the last push. When you make comparisons it's easier to learn. With anything you do. For example lets say you struggle with math. If you compare math formulas to other things in your life that you're firmiliar with the math formulas will be easier to understand. For me I used to struggle with structure. Once I compared it to writing it seemed to be a lot easier. This blog post sort of goes off topic but its a way for me to share a bit of knowledge with you. I hope that now your knowledge of structure is more clear and you understand what I mean in future blogs when I write about structure.
